Now that the results are in, I am not happy, but honestly, the Republicans had it coming. They strayed too far away from their republican ideals of limited government and fiscal prudence. However, I am just as afraid of what the Democrats will do.
Most of all, simply for fiscal reasons, I personally cannot afford if the Democrats simply let the so-called "tax cuts for the rich" expire. I am by no means rich. I am just about average (or a little below) for the area I live in. The two tax initiatives by the Republicans that have helped my family the most are the $1000 child tax credit and the lowering of the tax rates and expanding of the brackets. My property taxes are going to go up 33% this coming year, or about $80 a month. If the Democrats are going to let the tax cuts phase out, I'd have to come up with another $200 a month for the Federal Government.
Thus I have decided to start this blog and start writing my Democratic Senators and Representative on a regular basis to let them know how a lot of common folks they so proudly claims they owe their votes to feel.
There will be other issues as well, about health care, foreign policies (esp. towards Europe, where I hail from), etc. Keep checking in.
BTW, the title of my blog may be misleading as I will likely either not have the time to write something daily, as I work for a living, or it's just that my life is so dull, boring, and average, that there won't be much to write. :-)
So, to start, I have sent the re-elected Sen. Maria Cantwell an email today about the tax concerns I mentioned above. I have looked up the fax info for Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Brian Baird as well. I will send the same fax to all of them to see what kind of a response I will get.
